YOU HAVE QUESTIONS? WE HAVE ANSWERS.
What is coaching, again?
Coaching is all about life optimization. Your personal life. Your professional life. Your whole life. Getting really clear on what matters to you and what you want, operating from a growth mindset, and stepping into purposeful action.
what results can you expect?
Making your whole life better. Setting goals and achieving them. Giving your ideas a road map and executing them. Integrating and balancing all of the moving parts of your life. Feeling capable and accountable. Developing your confidence and presence. Growing healthy relationships. Handling transitions well. Living rather than functioning. Discovering more about your capabilities. Getting curious about yourself. Thriving.
Why Laduke coaching?
Because we care about people. Because we care about you. Because it's not lip service and helping others gives our lives meaning. Because we're professionally trained and have a ton of experience in this work and are confident we can help you grow. Because we want to see you stretch yourself into someone bigger. Because we're honest and will move you to a place of action. Because we're committed to helping you shake up your world into someplace bigger and brighter and better than ever.
how long does the typical coaching engagement last?
1) Keep in mind your coaching plan will be unique to your wants and needs. There's no out-of-the-box, standardized stuff here. It will be a plan tailor-made to where you're at and wanting to go. 2) Real change and growth takes time. There's no way around this, so we acknowledge it from the start. One or two powerful conversations isn't enough to do it. You're likely going to create new norms and habits, and making this sustainable takes diligence, commitment, and consistency. It takes time. 3) Our average coaching engagement lasts for a minimum of 3 months. Preferably 6-12 months. Again, we're going for real, lasting transformation.
how does it work logistically?
Sessions with your coach will last for an hour. You'll typically have two phone, video, or in-person meetings with your coach per month. In between, you'll often have homework to complete. Check-in calls or texts are not unheard of, either.
Wait. What do we mean by "homework"?
The time between sessions is actually where much of your learning and growth can take place. The homework you're assigned is designed to spark this process. And when we use the word "homework," we don't necessarily mean in the academic sense (though a good article or book may come your way every now and again for you to consider). What we do equate homework to is purposeful action. Homework can mean committing to having a conversation with your boss about a pay raise before your next coaching session. Homework can mean saying you'll no longer check your work email after 6pm every evening. Homework can mean calling up that martial arts dojo you've driven by twenty times and signing up for their initial free class, or buying that piano on Craigslist and paying for lessons, or polishing your resume and reaching out to a recruiter, or finally making an appointment for the massage you've been putting off, or calling an admissions officer about more training or another degree to further your education. Big or small, homework is designed to help you literally create positive change.
And it doesn't have to be in person?
Nope. LaDUKE COACHING is based out of Detroit, MI, but you can be anywhere in the world, and we can coach via phone or video. Zoom, Skype, FaceTime are a few of the common options we work with to stay connected to our clients.
What about credentials? a code of ethics?
Your coach is certified by the International Coach Federation and Coaches Training Institute. Additionally, our practices abide by the Code of Ethics written by the International Coach Federation and can be found here.
is this like therapy? What's the difference between the two?
A great and important question. Though coaches and therapists have their clients' best interests at heart and some modalities may overlap, there are still notable differences worth considering. One, unlike a therapist, a coach is not a healthcare professional who will diagnose you. Two, it's not uncommon for a therapist to spend a sufficient amount of time examining a client's past traumas to help bring them more fully into the present. Contrarily, a coach often meets you where you already are and treats this as a baseline to move forward from. Lastly, it's not uncommon for a client to work with both a coach and therapist. Each can meet a different set of needs in service of their client's growth and development.

I have had the opportunity to work with, hire and manage many coaches in my career. Joe brings a quiet expertise, confidence and natural instinct to his coaching that place him at the upper level of quality compared to his peers. One of my favorite things about Joe is that while he demonstrates immense compassion and a gentle nature, these in no way preclude him from challenging people to stretch beyond their comfort zone. He quickly establishes a trusted partnership with his clients and forms the basis for a truly valuable growth experience.

Joe is a very effective coach because he asks astute questions that prompt creative, new ways of addressing old challenges. He is inspiring in his eloquence, easily approachable and his passion to empower change is infectious. On top of all of that, he's incredibly down to earth and fun. Want to live more wholly? Work with Joe.

I had the amazing pleasure of witnessing Joe's coaching first hand during our training at The Coaches Training Institute. Joe has a Rock Star presence that immediately draws you to him, but it is his wisdom, heart, and poet's mastery of the language that keep you on the edge of your seat. His intuition is tremendous, as is his courage to speak it. If you are looking for real transformation, I would highly recommend Joe to be your coach!

Joe is a world-class coach with keen insight, sixth sense intuition and complete balance. Many of us go through life living a life not fully our own, not having a full appreciation of all we bring to the banquet of life, and not fulfilling our designed purpose. Working with Joe allowed me to uncover hidden gems inside and sent me forth to shine in the fullness of who I am. I highly recommend Joe as a Coach and Facilitator.

Joe's one in a million. He brings focus, compassion, innovation, and enviable eloquence to his coaching. He probably wrote the book on 'active listening'. In iambic pentameter, because he can. Yet (this coming from a talker) one of the best parts about working with Joe is that he doesn't have time for any of your BS... and man. Isn't that refreshing?

Joe is a great coach! His intuition is spot on and he provides an immediate sense of trust not unlike the guidance one would expect from a sturdy big brother. Not only does Joe inhabit his role as a sounding board to provide the life clarity that one needs from a coach, he also keenly finds the path in you that will ultimately lead to transformative change.

Joe has this real knack for seeing straight through the stories his clients make up about their lives and hitting on what's really important to them in life -- their values, their greatest wants and desires, their inherent awesomeness as people. His eloquent way with words, and his fantastic sense of humor, make him a total joy to work with as a coach. One solid compliment from Joe (always 100% authentic, sincere and heartfelt) and you'll feel your confidence skyrocket.
